Harvest to Holly tour features vintage clothing this weekend

Warwick - Members of the Warwick Historical Society Costume Committee will display examples of vintage clothing they have diligently mended, washed and pressed over the past five years at Baird’s Tavern during Harvest to Holly weekend, Nov. 17 and 18. The featured garments will be day wear (actually the rarest clothing that exists from times past) as well as the very formal Lincoln dress (which has been professionally restored) and doll clothes. They will be on display in various rooms of the Tavern following the chamber trio concert Saturday evening and Sunday’s Jubilate and Union A.M.E. choirs. The core costume committee, consisting of Candy Ahrenholz, Judy Harney, Betty Hurd, Nancy Owen and Rosella Schaefer, has been meeting weekly at the 1810 House quietly preserving the Society’s collection of garments dating back to the early 1800’s. Tickets for the concert, which will be followed by refreshments at Baird’s Tavern, are on sale at the Tavern Gift Shop (Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), Newhard’s Home Source, Peck’s Wine and Spirits and on line at www.warwickhistoricalsociety.org or by calling 845-986-3236.
