Goshen — It’s that special time of year when the museum welcomes the holiday season. Poinsettia’s line the old stable, the Yule trees glitter, and the traditional Jingle Bells Holiday Concert will be held in the William R. Haughton Memorial Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame, located at 240 Main Street in Goshen. The concert will feature the Hudson Harmony Chorus, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, and the Goshen High School Varsity Choir and the Jazz Voices. Perhaps the Grinch will show up too. Holiday refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the program. As well, the Winner’s Circle Gift Shop will offer 10 percent discount prior to the musical program. Visitors can see the Holiday tree filled with horsey ornaments, tour new exhibits since their last visit, or visit the Currier & Ives Gallery where the story of the sport of harness racing is told through artists’ eyes. The Marine Corps Reserve will be collecting new, unwrapped gifts for Toys For Tots program. Last year, with the support of museum friends, more than 70,000 toys were distributed to needy children throughout Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, Rockland, Putnam, and Westchester counties. A drop box will be kept in the museum’s main lobby until December 15, and toys can be brought in between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. General admission is $3, and free for museum members. With a gift for Toys For Tots, a $1 discount is offered. Tickets may be purchased at the door, but seating is limited. To reserve, call 294-6330, as soon as possible. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular admission is: $7.50 for adults; $5.50 for seniors, USTA, or AAA members; $3.50 for students; and free for museum members and children under 5.
