Halloween fair and haunted boat rides at museum
Cuddebackville Volunteers living and otherwise of the haunted Neversink Valley Area Museum will host a Halloween fair from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the museum’s Leura Murray Center, located at 26 Hoag Road, off Route 209 in Cuddebackville, Events will include trick-or-treating, face painting, apple sling-shot making, bobbing for apples (on strings, not in water), pumpkin hunts, a costume contest, and refreshments, among other activities. At 4 p.m., Halloween stories will be told to children ages two to eight; scary stories for those brave enough to sit and listen will be told at 6 p.m. All participants will leave with treats in their goody-bags. Admission for the event, which includes a trick-or-treat bag, participation in one pumpkin hunt, and all other fair events, is $5 for the general public and $3 for museum members. Memberships will be available at the door. The museum’s canal boat, Neversink Kate, will be making voyages along the haunted towpath of the D&H Canal. Ghosts, ghouls, and evil creatures may be lurking around in there, the museum reports. Tickets for the haunted boat rides are additional $5 per person. Reservations are suggested for the boat rides, and for groups of ten or more. Local Boy and Girl Scouts will be helping at the event. For more information, call the museum at 754-8870.
