GWL Public Library hosts comedy improv workshop starting Oct. 18

GREENWOOD LAKE — The Greenwood Lake Public Library will host a four-session comedy improvisation workshop on Thursdays, Oct. 18 and 25, and Nov. 1 and 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Students will learn the basic rules of improvisation, play group games, develop original characters and scenes, presented and guided by the Rising City Arts Theatre Group.
Since launching in 2010, Rising City Arts’ mission has been “to offer a unique place to explore and enjoy the art of theatre. We serve children and adults of all ages with high quality, innovative theatre and acting-based classes, workshops and in-school residencies taught by some of New York’s finest Acting Teachers. Our approach to the craft builds smart actors with a greater awareness of self, community, confidence and artistic potential. We continually seek to grow in connection to what drives our creative spirit.”
Dina Ann Comolli, executive director and co-founder of Rising City Arts, has incorporated a variety of techniques she practiced at Harvard’s American Repertory Theater into the workshop. In the past, Dina has taught acting for kids with City Lights Youth Theatre, The Academy of Dramatic Arts and The Westchester Conservatory for the Performing Arts.
Off Broadway, she appeared in “The Rise of Dorothy Hale” and regionally she starred in “Twelfth Night” at Summer Theatre of New Canaan and Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival as well as “Mofo with the Hat” at The Kitchen. Some of her TV credits include “Law and Order SVU”, “Fringe”, “I’d Kill for You” and “School Spirits”. Dina is also private acting coach and a Nia Green Belt Instructor.
