Greenwood Lake Public Library’s Art Gallery presents the work of Brittany Dreyhaupt during December

GREENWOOD LAKE — Greenwood Lake Public Library’s Art Gallery will present the work of artist Brittany Dreyhaupt for the month of December.
Born in 1986 in Southern California, Dreyhaupt grew up in Venice Beach, California, a town with art at the heart of its culture.
Without any formal training, she learned by doing and creating. At the age of 22, she began painting, hosting her first art show with four other local Venice artists.
At 24, she began a career as an early childhood educator at a Montessori in Manhattan Beach, California. An advocate of STEAM (Science, Technology, Math Engineering, Art and Technology), she was assigned the role of art teacher for ages 2-5.
While in California, Brittany met her husband, Philip Andre Dreyhaupt, a physical therapist assistant and a Greenwood Lake native, at one of her art shows in downtown Los Angeles.
Eventually, the couple moved back to Greenwood Lake together upon receiving news of his father’s cancer diagnoses.
Phillip and his parents, Uwe and Barbara Dreyhaupt, encouraged her artwork and passion for teaching children.
She furthered her education through the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at SUNY Orange in Middletown.
She has hosted several “Paint and Sips” for college fund raisers. She has also branched out into the community to ladies groups and hosted charity fund raiser “Paint and Sips.”
Currently, most of her art at is inspired by the beauty of Orange County.
“I was always taught when you are given a talent it was meant to benefit others," Dreyhaupt said. "It is my joy to give back to the community with my talent and love of art. Most of the art in this stage of my life is inspired by the beauty of Orange County. I don’t know how I lived most of my life without the change of seasons being so bold and brilliant. I can’t imagine a winter without snow. I love the rolling hills, deep woods, and the charm of farm animals. They have been my muse.
"From coast to coast," the artist added, "I am happy and grateful to share my art with you.”
The library is located at 79 Waterstone Road in the Village of Greenwood Lake. For information, call (845) 477-8377 ext. 104.
