Welcome to autumn! After one of the hottest and longest summers we've had in a while, let's all appreciate the beauty of autumn. This is a great time of year to start up a walking routine. Pizza and bingo will be held Monday, Oct. 3, at 12:30 p.m. Call the Senior Center to sign up and bring your $1.50 per slice with soda fee with you on Monday. Please arrive by 12:15. AC Moore craft classes resume this month. On Monday, Oct. 17, Ellen Finelli will be bringing craft supplies to make an autumn-themed yard stake. Call to sign up. The cost is $3. State Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt requested a day to meet with our area's senior citizens. She would like to be available to hear any concerns you may have and offer any assistance she can. I have invited her to visit the senior center on Friday, Oct. 21, at 12:15. Refreshments will be served, therefore please RSVP by Monday, Oct. 17. This month's book discussion will take place on Friday, Oct. 28, at 11 am. The book selection to be discussed is "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire. On Monday, Nov. 28, the Senior Center will be hosting AARP's 55 Alive Safe Driving program for senior citizens age 55 and up. By taking this course for a fee of $10, you will save 10 percent on your automobile insurance for three years. Class size is limited to 35 students. Call the center at 294-8545 to register. There are no planned activities for Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31, but do stop in for a treat. — By Ellen Teatum, program director
