Goshen Farmers' Market opens
GOSHEN It’s time to clean out your refrigerator and make room in your kitchen for an array of fresh food items, because the Goshen Farmers’ Market is set to open Friday, May 18. The weekly market is held rain or shine, every Friday, on Village Square, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The farmers and vendors offer a wide variety of products including fresh fruits and vegetables, plants and flowers, breads, cheeses, quiches, soups, pickles, cheesecakes, cookies, lamb and wool, wine, and soap. Vendors for the 2007 Goshen Farmers Market include: Bialas Farms, Catskill Superfino Merino, The Cookie Chick, Gardiner Eucalyptus, Grammy’s Garden, Happy Herbs Soap, Janet’s Quality Baked Goods, John Lupinski Farms, Orchards of Concklin, Panzarella Foods LLC, Pennings Orchards, Picklelicious, Pika’s, S&SO Produce, Sweet Aroma, The Farmers Daughter, The Kitchen Gourmet, and Warwick Valley Winery. Starting May 25, the information table under the blue-topped tent will carry area tourist brochures, non-profit materials and flyers from some of the nearly 200 Goshen Chamber members. The Goshen Chamber of Commerce, sponsor of the Goshen Farmers Market, will also be hosting “The Homegrown Music Series,” free mini-concerts by Orange County musicians, to be held on the monument at the market throughout the season. This project is made possible, in part, with funds from Orange County Tourism/Orange Arts and the County of Orange. Kicking off the series are Marty Kupersmith and Michael Ciliberto from the group Jay and the Americans. They will be performing oldies to originals on Friday, May 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m,, weather permitting. For more information or to find out how you can volunteer at the market, contact Pip Klein, Executive Director, Goshen Chamber of Commerce at 294-7741 or gcc1@frontiernet.net.
