Goshen Bicentennial committee to meet Feb. 28

Goshen Goshen’s Village Bicentennial Committee invites the community to village hall on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. to continue planning the 2009 bicentennial party. Goshen Village’s Mayor Robert Weinberger and Police Chief James Watt will talk about security and infrastructure problems and solutions. Orange County Tourism Director Susan Cayea has suggestions about what she and her Department can do to help. The celebration will be held over seven months. Plans for the Bicentennial Ball, the 19th-century County Fair Weekend, Religious Heritage Weekend, a float parade, an Incorporation Day celebration, and commemorative journal are underway. Educational and cultural programs are still to be decided, and all of this is ready for public discussion. The event and planning update is ready. The next steps for making the celebration a reality are also on the agenda for Feb. 28. The Bicentennial Committee is grateful to the following businesses and organizations for helping to make our first year of planning financially possible by becoming Bicentennial Trustees with a tax-deductible contribution: Goshen Restoration, Orange Regional Medical Center, Griffith Realty and The Rotary Club of Goshen. New Bicentennial Trustee supporters are K&K Sports and A-Plus Mechanical Services. The committee also thanks Dimonel Reprographics for its creative graphic support and Konica Minolta for providing copying services. The celebration is also planned in cooperation with the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial Commission.
