Middletown-Glenn Werner will read his work at the next program in the Poetry on the Loose Reading/Performance Series, to be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 6 Orchard St. (at Main) in Middletown. Werner has published in the print journals Snow Monkey and 4th Street, and his work appears in the Calling All Poets 2003 Anthology. His art or poetry has been published in a number of web journals, including The Avatar Review, Literary Salt, Kimera, and others. He is the webmaster for Revenna Press and maintains his own site at www.mongrelpoet.com. He is a member of Voices of the Valley Poets and the Woodstock Poetry Society. He has been writing poetry for six years and has been featured in poetry venues throughout the Hudson Valley. He seeks in his writing to reveal the universal human condition through the details of individual lives. He thinks of his poems as portraits. Following Werner's presentation will be an open reading at which poets and other writers are welcome to perform original work on any theme. Admission is by donation. Amy Ouzoonian will read on Nov. 6, and Philip Levine on Dec. 4. The 2004 Poetry on the Loose Reading/Performance Series is made possible, in part, with funds from Orange County Tourism/Orange Arts and the County of Orange.
