Cornwall — The Museum of the Hudson Highlands will present Maple Sugar Tours every Saturday and Sunday, from Feb. 18 until March 19. Tours will start every half hour, and run from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. The 45-minute outdoor walking tour, guided by museum educators, will include learning how to tap a maple tree, how to collect the sap, and how the sap boils down in an evaporator to become maple syrup. Warm drinks will be supplied, along with a video about the art of maple sugaring. “Sap is collected at a time when some snow remains on the ground,” said museum director of education, Ann Szigethy. “It is muddy, and cold rain is common. Yet, those of us who are involved in maple sugaring love this time of year. The wildlife is active, the air is fresh, and the exercise feels great. So, join us in stretching your legs, expanding your mind, and enjoy some fresh air. Be sure to dress warmly and wear boots.” Maple sugaring will take place at Kenridge Farm on Route 9W in Cornwall. Admission is $7, and $5 for members. For more information or questions, call 534-5506 ext. 204 or visit www.museumhudsonhighlands.org.
