Genealogical programs April 7
Goshen Pat Favata and Carla Decker of the Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and the Highlands will present two programs at the next Orange County Genealogical Society meeting, to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, at the 1841 Historic Courthouse, 101 Main St. in Goshen. Favata is a third generation Newburgh resident and the librarian/ archivist of the Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and the Highlands. She will present “Can You Help Me? The Evolution of a Historical Society Library in Today’s World.” The second program, “21 Century Mission of the Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and the Highlands,” will be presented by Carla Decker. Current and past-president of the Newburgh society, Decker has written five local history books and published two others. She is a retired sixth-grade teacher and describes herself as a “passionated Newburgh-o-phile.” The program will follow the regular monthly meeting, which starts at 9 a.m. The research room will be open following the program, from noon until 4 p.m. For information call Marilyn Terry at 562-2749 or e-mail her at mvtgrterry@aol. com.
