Milford, Pa. — The Artery Gallery, in Milford, Pa., will open a new exhibition of paintings by artists Lisa Zukowski and sculptor Tom Holmes. The exhibition runs from June 7 through July 9. The public is invited to attend the reception which will be held Saturday, June 9, from 2 to 5 p.m. Art works by the Artery’s other twenty members also will be on display. Tom Holmes, a veteran gallery member, will be displaying sculpture in wood. His work is in turn abstract, figurative and replete with energy and wit. His “Wright” bird house was chosen to represent and tour with the “Out of the Nest Artists’ Bird Houses” traveling exhibit which was on a four-year tour of American museums. Aside from his affiliation with the Artery Gallery, he is also represented by the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery in Chelsea, New York City. His work may also be viewed on his Web site, www.tomholmes.com. Lisa Zukowski will be showing recent paintings in encaustic and acrylic. In her work she brings together the physical and the experiential, expressing them in symbolic and abstract imagery. She received her degree in painting and print-making from Brooklyn College where she served as printer for the Brooklyn College Press Women’s Portfolio and the Creation Portfolio. Zukowski is a two-time recipient of the Bernard Shaw Memorial Award for painting as well as many awards from local arts organizations. Her work has been exhibited in the United States and Italy where she conducts an art holiday each year in Tuscany. She currently serves as president of the Warwick Art League and, most recently, was chosen “Artist of the Year” by the Orange County Arts Federation. Her work may also be viewed on her website, www.lisaz.com. The gallery, located in the Forest Hall Building, at the stop-light in Milford, is open Thursday through Sunday, from 11 to 6 p.m., and Monday from 11 to 3 p.m. For more information call 570-409-1234, or visit our website www.arteryonline.com.
