Goshen —The Executive Suite Gallery in the Orange County Government Center is hosting an exhibit of watercolors by Port Jervis artist Rosalind Hodgkins, through May 22. Hodgkins specializes in finely detailed and scientifically accurate images of mainly local flora and fauna. Since moving from New York City a few years ago where her works were primarily abstract, Hodgkins’ interest in natural science art has grown into her main passion. “I became fascinated with painting from life, being able to look at all sides of my subjects, watching the play of light and sometimes seeing the plant shift with the light changes.” Her process of painting starts with a reference from photographs, a book or the Internet. The intimate detail is added as a product of visual meditation and study of the subject’s form or anatomy in real life in order to gain those extra nuances. The exhibit is located on the third floor of the Orange County Government Center, and open to the public during business hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. All are welcome. Rosalind’s work can also be viewed online at www.rosalindhodgkins.com. Artists living in Orange County, who are interested in exhibiting in the Executive Suite Gallery, can call Orange Arts at 615-3860 for more information.
