Gallery hosts Different Strokes' exhibit

New Windsor The Wallkill River Art Gallery will host the exhibition “Different Strokes,” a collection of paintings created by the artists John Creagh and Pat Morgan, through July 31. An artists reception will take place on Sunday, June 10, 3 to 6 p.m. Located in New Windsor, the gallery showcases the work of the artists of the Wallkill River School. John Creagh will be exhibiting a collection of works in oil and watercolor. The artist received his Masters in Fine Art from Lehman College of the City University of New York and studied at the Arts Students League. Currently, he teaches at Westchester Community College Art Workshop and at Rockland Center for the Arts. “Painting out of doors awakens the senses and sharpens the vision,” explains Creagh. “To set up the easel and palette and paint directly from what is before me frees the spirit in ways not possible in the studio. It’s exhilarating to capture the view and chronicle the change of seasons.” Creagh, who paints both urban and rural landscapes, has exhibited his work in many fine galleries. His paintings are in numerous private collections. Pat Morgan will be featuring a selection of her watercolor paintings, including still lifes and landscapes. Following her retirement from public schools, Morgan began classes in watercolor and it was love at first stroke. She has studied with well-known artists including Richard Ochs, Eli Rosenthal and Mel Stabin. “Joining the Wallkill River School has given me the opportunity to pursue with fellow artists my love of plein air painting,” explains Morgan, whose work has received awards from the Middletown Art Group, Community Art Show at the Newburgh Library and most recently the Richard Ochs Memorial Award at the North East Watercolor Society Members Show. When not painting or in her gardens, Morgan enjoys teaching beginning painters, sharing her love of watercolor. Both artists are residents of Orange County and are members of the Wallkill River School of Art. The Wallkill River Art Gallery is located at 357 Old Forge Hill, Suite #900, New Windsor. New York.
