GOSHEN — Her’s a summary of upcoming events in Orange County, thanks to folks at www.OrangeTourism.org:

The Orange County Family Fair Look for the huge Ferris wheel lighting up Middletown’s sky from Wednesday through Sunday from Friday, July 13, through Sunday, July 29,. Take in the sweet aroma of cotton candy and relish a famous Bob Maxwell’s Walkaway-Sundae as you explore the midway bustling with live entertainment, rides, and games. Check out the 4-H exhibits, displays of handmade quilts, crafts, canned goods and flowers. Who do you think deserves a blue ribbon? Experience an old-fashioned Demolition Derby on two Sundays, July 15 and July 29 with a combination Fair and Speedway Ticket.

Arrow Park Lake & Lodge in Monroe

Get a gander at this gorgeous, relaxing getaway when you pick up tickets to their “all-you-can-eat beef tenderloin” beefsteak banquet and rock & roll show featuring the Texas-based musical guest, Shurman, on Saturday and Sunday, July 14 and 15.

Or, catch the Bottle Rockets concert at their park pavilion on Friday night, July 27.

No doubt, you’ll want to go back for some more R&R to swim at the lake and spend a few nights at their restored 1909 Arts & Crafts-style lodge.

Newburgh Brewing Company Grown-ups can sample another type of tasty ice cream treat at the newly opened Newburgh Brewing Company in the fabulously restored 1850’s box factory building nestled above the Newburgh Waterfront and Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site. Their Newburgh Brown Ale Float made with chocolate ice cream, shaved Mexican-style chocolate and caramel malt syrup drizzle is the perfect accompaniment to their delicious Tap Room menu based on local ingredients.

Stop by Friday evenings from 5 to 11 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. During the summer, catch live music in this spacious venue on Fridays from 9 p.m. to closing.

Port Jervis Arts Walk It’s a free outdoor festival with more than 100 participating artists, food vendors and musicians from the tri-state area lining the streets of this historic river city from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 21. At dark, the family can stretch out on a blanket on Front Street for the film screening of “ET” on a 40-by-20-foot inflatable screen. Stay an extra day or two and conjure up your inner Huckleberry Finn with a rafting trip on the beautiful Delaware River.

For a different perspective, take a drive on the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway (Route (97). Just a few miles north of Port Jervis, discover why the winding snakelike turns of “Hawk’s Nest” are so popular in car commercials. Enjoy the ride, then, head back to Port Jervis’ for a treat at the restored 1950s ice cream parlor, Riverside Creamery. Those delightful old-fashioned egg cremes and ice cream sodas you’ve been craving are on the five-page dessert menu.
