Friday film series returns to library



WARWICK — The “2nd Friday Film Series @ The Library” returns July 12, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., at the Albert Wisner Public Library.
The monthly screenings are followed by discussions led by Mary Krauze.

July 12: “The Pursuit of Happyness”
This 2006 film is rated PG-13 and stars Will Smith, Jaden Smith and Thandie Newton. It tells the story of a struggling salesman trying to care for his child while meeting the demands of a Wall Street internship.
The movie won the 2007 Image Award for Outstanding Motion Picture.
Aug. 8: “Spanglish”
This 2004 film is rated PG-13 and stars Adam Sandler, Tea Leoni, Paz Vega and Cloris Leachman. It was nominated for the 2005 Screen Actors Guild Awards; Cloris Leachman was nominated as Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
Cultures clash when a Mexican immigrant housekeeper and her daughter move in with an upscale Los Angeles family. Join us as we watch the film and discuss how culture and tradition affect parenting and family life.
Sept. 12: “Martian Child”
This 2007 film is rated PG and stars John Cusack, Amanda Peet and Bobby Coleman. It was nominated for the 2008 Young Artist Award-Best Family Feature Film.
The movie tells the story of a lonely science-fiction writer who adopts a young foster child who claims to be on a mission from Mars.
