CORNWALL — A free “skywarn” training will be held on Wednesday, April 23, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Munger Cottage, Riverside Park in Cornwall. “Skywarn” is a government-sponsored, volunteer program with more than 230,000 trained severe weather spotters. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service. The class, to be presented by a meteorologist of the National Weather Service, will include basics of thunderstorm development, fundamentals of storm structure, identification of potential severe weather features, and what and how to report that information. Basic severe weather safety will be discussed. For additional information, call 344-1809 or email: n2ubp@arrl.net.
