— The Warwick Valley Jazz Festival took root in 2010; now, it has expanded and is known as the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival.
This highlighting of the American musical art called jazz runs from Aug. 9 to 12 throughout the region, spotlighting the region’s deep resources of jazz talent.
While this festival has had its share of marquee names - Arturo O’Farrill, Dave Liebman, Wallace Roney, Lenny White and Buster Williams - it’s about the area’s talented neighbors and participating venues that support live jazz that distinguishes this festival from all others.
The New York Times as well as DownBeat and JazzTimes magazines have all covered the organic cooperative nature of this multi-stage, mixed environment festival. From swing bands to modern improvisation to be bop to classic song book material, there’s something for everyone.
