Food Bank holds fundraiser set for Sept. 9

    Goshen - The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley will host its eighth annual fund raiser, Denim & Diamonds, at the Harness Racing Museum located on Main Street in Goshen on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2 to p.m. The event will include a barbecue lunch, gaming tables, beer donated by local breweries and distributors, Country Western entertainment, line dancing instructions and an auction. The Harness Racing Museum also will open its two-floor museum for event attendees to browse the displays. Major sponsors include: ShopRite, Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation and Ulster Savings Bank; additional sponsors are Pamela’s Traveling Feast, AirTran Airways, Allegiant Air, A. C. Productions, Bargain Beverages, Budget Beverages, Casey’s Beer & Soda Shack, Oak Beverages, Inc. and The Beer Store. The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, located in Cornwall-on-Hudson, provides food to more than 370 feeding programs in Orange, Dutchess, Sullivan, Putnam, Rockland and Ulster counties. Last year, the Food Bank distributed more than eight million pounds of food in the Hudson Valley to food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, day care centers, senior citizen programs, rehabilitation programs and programs for the disabled.
