'Focus 1968' opens at Warwick Historic Society

WARWICK — History will have the final word, but if your consider the 1960's as a chaotic, tumultuous period of change, the year 1968 rises from that decade as one of the most transformative and challenging.
There are countless moments, some earth shattering and groundbreaking, others subtle and nuanced, that defined the year.
The Vietnam War, civil rights, human rights, exploded with force in 1968. The after effects reverberated throughout the nation and abroad for decades after and can still be felt today.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of this controversial year, the Warwick Historical Society is currently presenting an exhibit "Focus 1968" that hopes to offer some of the moments that helped define the year.
The Society would like to thank American Legion Post 214 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4662 without whose help this exhibit could not be possible.
"Focus 1968" will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Nov. 11.
The exhibit is free of charge and open to the public. Call the Warwick Historical Society at 845-986-3236 ext 101 or check the website www.whsny.org for more information.
