Flying Karamazovs tumble into Ike Hall

West Point - West Point’s Eisenhower Hall Theatre will present a truly unique performance featuring the Flying Karamazov Brothers at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12. “LIFE, A Guide for the Perplexed,” is the Flying Karamazov’s newest show, descibed in the troop’s press material as “a spectacle of hilarity and silliness that is bound to tickle your eyes as well as your sides.” The show is a series of parables designed to help one survive the modern world as seen through the prism of Karamazovian eyes - so don’t expect the unexpected, don’t even expect the expected, just don’t expect. Music is played on traditional and non-traditional instruments, such as a high-tech sonar driven wireless instrument where movement makes the music or six octaves of drum pads arranged on a metal circle that could easily pass for a UFO. There are silly dances, world class juggling and most importantly... Lots of fun audience participation including “The Gamble” where Dmitri, as the Champ, juggles any three objects that the audience provides. If he loses he receives a pie in the face - if he wins, he gets a standing ovation. The Flying Karamazov Brothers have been “in the biz” since 1973, performing everywhere, from their early days on the streets of San Francisco (the actual streets, not the TV show) to more recent Broadway appearances. They’ve toured through every state in the union and traveled silver screens, both large and small.
