Florida Farm to host grass-to-fuel program

Florida — Frank Pikul’s Farm will host a Grass-to-Fuel Field Day on Friday, Sept. 28, from noon to 2:30 p.m. The farm is located at 88 Jessup Switch Road, in Florida. This event will feature a general discussion on growing biomass energy crops in the Hudson Valley. Topics will include variety selection, establishment, production, weed management and cost of establishment of Reed Canary grass and Switchgrass. There will be 1.0 pesticide recertification credit available for categories 1A and 21. Participants can bring their pesticide certification number to register for the credit. This program is funded by a grant from Cornell University Cooperative Extension; there is no charge for the program and lunch will be provided.
