Fire Department's summer carnival opens June 21

    Warwick — The Warwick Volunteer Fire Department will celebrate the first day of summer by holding a summer carnival on Wednesday, June 21, at 6 p.m., in Warwick’s Memorial Park on Forester Avenue. The carnival runs through Saturday, June 24, and will feature rides, games of chance, food, a car show, amusements and fireworks. Gates open at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, June 24, activities begin at 5 p.m. There also will be a car show on Saturday, starting at noon, featuring more that 50 antique vehicles. The carnival ends at 10 p.m. with a fireworks display. Friday night will be wrist band night. Anybody wearing a firefighter’s shirt will be entitled to unlimited carnival rides for $10. Meanwhile, the Warwick Fire Department also is planning its July 1 bi-annual Firefighters Parade, which is scheduled to include more than 100 fire and emergency vehicles and 78 fire companies. The parade steps off at 4 p.m. The department is a volunteer organization established in 1869 that provides the community with firefighting, rescue and emergency medical services.
