Monroe —The Fall Festival and Fiber Fest come together at Museum Village from noon to 4 p.m. on the weekend of Saturday, Sept. 23 and Sunday, Sept. 24. Tri-state artists will gather around the village green to demonstrate spinning, weaving, quilting, and knitting. Other fiber crafters are encouraged to call for information on how they may participate in this event. Certified knitting and crochet instructor, Kathleen Braun, of Museum Village, will be on hand to assist guests with their knit and/or crochet project questions. Cider pressing, wool carding, canning, and soap making are just a few of the demonstrations and hands-on activities that will provide guests with the experience of being in 19th century rural America during the autumn. Museum Village brings 19th century history to life. Costumed interpreters will be in village buildings. The broom shop, schoolhouse, candle shop, print shop and log cabin are just some of the interpretations that will add to the experience. The J.C. Merritt General Store with unique gift items and the Museum Village Food and Drink Shop will both be open. Adults $10, children $5. Museum Village members are admitted free of charge. The museum is located 4 miles west of New York State Thruway Exit 16 (Harriman), and directly off Route 17 at Exit 129 (Museum Village Road), and then follow signs.
