    Florida - The following is a list of events for children, young people and adults at the Florida Public Library. For programs that require registration or simply for additional information, call the library at 651-7659. Saturday, Feb. 10 • Florida Public Library will host the Princeton Review’s Practice SAT Test from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for all teens who will be taking the SAT exam. Call to reserve a seat. Results will be returned and discussed on Sunday, Feb. 25. Sunday, Feb. 11 • Attend a Defensive Driving Course from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $50 and includes a pizza lunch. Interested persons must call (845) 733-6000 to register for this N.Y.S. DM- approved course. Save 10 percent on your liability insurance upon completion. Monday, Feb. 12 • Join the Knitting Circle at 6 p.m. Knitters and crocheters of all experience levels are invited. Bring your own needles and yarn and your current project. Expert advice is available. For adults over the age of 16 only; register. Tuesday, Feb. 13 • Kids in grades K - 5 are welcome to “drop in” on Tuesday afternoons at 4 p.m. for “Books & Beyond.” This week the subject will be “Jungle Animals in the Day & the Night.” • Young Adults in grades 6 and up are invited at 6 p.m. for a special showing of “Dracula” on the big screen. Snacks and refreshments are included. Call the library to sign up. Friday, Feb. 16 • Poetry Café this evening at 7 p.m. Local poet Robert Milby will emcee the evening with guest poets and friends. There also will be an open mic session. Four kinds of brewed coffees and homemade desserts will be served. Free; call the library to register. Saturday, Feb. 17 • From Page to Screen, view the movie “Hoot” based on the book by Carl Hiaasen on the big screen at 2 p.m. This program is for kids in grades K - 5 and registration is required. Popcorn and juice also available. Sunday, Feb. 18 • Chinese Calligraphy with artist Ping Xu at 2 p.m. Make your own ink and learn brush strokes to create Chinese characters. For adults only. Space is limited; register. Tuesday, Feb. 20 • “Books & Beyond” for kids in grades K - 5. Drop in Tuesdays at 4 p.m. for a different program each week. This week, read stories and learn about jungle birds & butterflies. • YA Discovery for young adults in grade 6 and up at 6:30 p.m. Cook up a tasty tart and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Register. Wednesday, Feb. 21 • Check out a copy now of “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” by Lisa See and join the discussion at 6:30 p.m. Call to register. For adults. Saturday, Feb. 24 • My Life as a Soap Star at 2 p.m. Meet Anna Stuart, star of “One Life to Live,” “As the World Turns” and “All My Children.” Hear about her life behind the scenes and in front of the camera. For teens and adults only. Register. Wednesday, Feb. 28 • As part of the “Page to Screen” program, adults over the age of 16 are invited to view the movie “Devil Wears Prada” on the library’s big screen. Refreshments will be provided.
