Origami tree now at county government center Goshen — The Orange County Origami Club has created some 500 tree ornaments using the art of paper folding. The 12-foot tree, now up at the Department of Motor Vehicles in the county government center in Goshen, is adorned with an array of colorful paper snowflakes, angels, and animals, including cranes, elephants, frogs, rhinoceros, giraffe, and many others. The tree is topped with a pearl-colored star folded from 30 pieces of paper and created by club member Sok Song. County Executive Edward A. Diana thanked instructor Kay Eng and the other members of the club, noting that many of the decorations take over an hour to create. The tree will be up through Jan. 5. The origami club is sponsored by the Orange County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation. Members meet on the third Saturday of each month at the Graham M. Skea Parks and Recreation Center at the Thomas Bull Memorial Park in Hamptonburgh. New members are always welcome. For more information, call 457-4900.
