Eitz Chaim to hold fundraiser, toy drive and Hanukkah party on Dec. 1
Monroe Congregation Eitz Chaim’s Sisterhood will hold its Barnes and Noble Bookfair Fundraiser on Friday, Dec. 1, during the afternoon, and all day from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Barnes and Nobles, in Newburgh. Congregants are invited to come and read a Hanukkah story or play dreidle with customers. They can use the coupons printed on the last page of the Shalom, and in the office, to purchase books and other fun stuff, and a percentage of the sale goes back to the Eitz Chaim Hebrew School. December is the beginning of Eitz Chaim’s toy drive. People are asked to collect and bring in unwrapped new toys to be donated to the Tzedakah Table at the “Share The Lights Festival” on Dec. 17. All toys will be donated to Jewish Family Services to be given to children in the Monroe area. The entire synagogue is invited to the annual shul-wide Hanukkah party on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. Dave Zucker, a congregation member, will play the guitar, and the Warwick Chorale with Wendy Wyler will sing Hanukkah songs. Latkes will be served. Congregants are asked to note that Friday night services now begin at 5:30 p.m. (not 6:15 p.m.). December birthdays will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. at Kabbalat Shabbat Services on Friday, Dec. 1. The Yom Rishon Club will meet on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 8:30 a.m. for Minyan followed by breakfast at 9:30 a.m. in the Rabbi’s Office. Call the shul office at 783-7424 for additional information.
