Duo plays Tuesday at Florida Farmers Market opening

Florida Starting Tuesday, June 13, rain or shine, the Florida Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring the third annual Florida Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., across from the former ShopRite, on the corner of Routes 94 and 17A North. The market will provide locally produced fruits and vegetables, breads, pickles, cheeses, baked goods, seafood, wine, and fresh-cut and dried flowers. There will be two designated tents a week: the Merchant of the Week’ will feature a vendor with a handmade specialty item; and the “Community Relations” tent will showcase a local business of Florida, or non-profit organization. Customers will learn about the services and businesses that support the local community, and reinforce the “think locally” approach when carrying out their shopping needs. On opening day, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., the featured attraction will be the local Gravikord Duo. Bob Grawi and his new instrument, the Gravikord, are creating a new harp tradition. Together with his wife Pip Klein on flute, the Gravikord Duo is a celebration of culture, including folk, jazzy pop, and original music. The Merchant of the Week’ will be Beechwood House, for their barbecue sauces. Owners Lynn and Marty Fabian state, “Our sauce originated with great barbecues. However, there are many other uses, and people have told us they use it for dipping finger foods, such as french fries, chicken fingers, chips, and pretzels. Our original recipe is a pleasant surprise for barbecue lovers. The sweet and tangy recipe adds a unique flavor to all foods including chicken, beef, pork, and seafood. Our other varieties include hot, extra hot, ginger wasabi, horseradish, and our all new garlic-infused barbecue sauce.” Warwick Dial-A-Bus has a fixed bus route that passes the market on Tuesday mornings, for drop off and pick up of community members. To obtain a ride, call 986-2877 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. For more information about the market, or to get a schedule of events, call 651-6000 or write to FloridaFarmersMarket@yahoo.com.
