• Make a Motorized ARTBOT. From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., children ages 6-9 will learn how to design and take home a motorized robot of their very own that can teach hop, spin or wiggle.
• Make a Solar Wobblebot. From 1:30 to 3 p.m., children ages 10-17 will design and create a robot that dances and skips in sunshine or bright indoor light.
Ceceri's books include "Robotics: Discover the Science and Technology of the Future," which was named to the 2012 Chicago Public Library's "Best of the Best" Reading List for Informational Books for Older Readers.
Her 2015 book "Making Simple Robots“ is based on one idea: "Anybody can build a robot. That includes kids, school teachers, parents and non-engineers. If you can knit, sew, or fold a flat piece of paper into a box, you can build a no-tech robotic part.”
Ceceri was a founding editor of the GeekMom blog , top writer at Wired.com's GeekDad blog and has contributed to the bestselling Geek Dad series of books. Formerly the homeschooling Expert for About.com, Ceceri is the proud mom of a computer game programmer and a filmmaker. For more information, check her out at www.craftsforlearning.com.
