Middletown The Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund will be hosting a Silent Auction and Dinner Dance to be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Kuhl’s Highland House in Middletown. The auction will commence at 6 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Guests will bid on various donated items, from sports memorabilia, vacation packages, dinner at local restaurants, golf outings, to jewelry and spa treatments. The evening will include dinner, music, entertainment and a live auction with some very special items to bid upon. Items up for bid include a chance to be a NASCAR race car driver and drive on a raceway track, and playing a round of golf on a prestigious course. The cost is $60 per person, which includes cocktail hour, a four course dinner, open bar and soft drinks. The event is a major fundraiser, which enables the fund to continue to work towards its goal of providing financial assistance to local families in need. Since its inception in 1999, the fund has donated more than $320,000, reaching out to more than 180 local families. It has just surpassed $50,000 donated to local families in need during 2005. The Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund was founded in memory of Brian, who was 14 when he passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer. The kindness and support that Brian and his family received during his illness inspired the Children’s Fund and its mission. For more information, or to donate an auction item, call 986-2717.
