Warwick - He’s back. Last September, Dick Wells, professional singer and popular local radio personality, was in intensive care at St. Anthony Community Hospital after he collapsed while performing in a summer concert at Railroad Green in Warwick. After heart surgery and a period of rehabilitation, he recently returned home. And on Saturday, Dec. 1, Wells will return to again emcee his popular morning music and talk show at Warwick radio station WTBQ (AM 1110). During his absence, loyal sponsors elected to keep the show going by volunteering their time and considerable talent to take turns standing in for Wells. “I don’t know how I can ever thank them,” said Wells. “They are all my true friends.” The following day after the broadcast, Sunday, Dec. 2, Wells will again be hosting another telethon from 4 - 8 p.m. for Winslow Therapeutic Center. The telethon will air on WVT Communications channel 12 and Cablevision channel 21. Winslow Therapeutic Center, located just off Route 17A between Bellvale and Greenwood Lake, conducts an award-winning therapy program to help children and adults with special needs develop self-esteem and physical confidence through horseback riding. “I think I understand more than ever how important it is to have the support of the community,” said Wells. “Winslow Therapeutic Center needs our help. As our special needs population grows so does the need for additional funding. Therapeutic riding makes a difference and you can make a difference in the life of a child by pre pledging or calling in during our telethon.” To donate on the day of the telethon call 845-986-7727 between 4-8 p.m. For pre-pledging mail your tax-deductible donation to Winslow Therapeutic Center, 328 Route 17A, Warwick, NY 10990 or call 845-986-6686.
