Mandes Kates, M.D., a Warwick ophthalmologist, and Lourdes Braadt, R.N, a certified diabetes educator with the St. Anthony Community Hospital Diabetes Center discuss their upcoming lecture on “Diabetes and the Eye,” on Friday, April 11, at 2:30 p.m., in the Bald Eagle Commons Van Dyk Health Care Center, 197 Cahill Rd. in West Milford, NJ. Van Dyk Health Care offers senior care services throughout New Jersey including Van Dyk at Bald Eagle Commons assisted living and senior apartments. According to the American Diabetes Association, people with diabetes have a higher risk of blindness than people without the disease. But most people who have diabetes have nothing more than minor eye disorders. Kates will explain how to keep minor problems minor and treatments that often work well if addressed right away.
