Dharma Drum Retreat Center to celebrate Year of the Pig

Pine Bush —It’s the Year of the Pig on the Chinese Lunar Calendar, and the Dharma Drum Retreat Center (DDRC) will celebrate with an afternoon of free events. There will be a Tea Ceremony, Chinese Opera, Chinese Calligraphy, a Martial Arts Demonstration, a Magic Show, Origami, Refreshments, Gifts and Prizes. Venerable Guo Jun, the abbot and residential teacher of the DDRC, sees this event as an opportunity to introduce the local community to the center and what it has to offer. The Chinese New Year celebration kicks off a full year of events and activities, including daily and weekly services, as well as three- and seven- day meditation retreats. The Chinese New Year Celebration starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 4 and runs until 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
