Monroe - The Monroe Democrats will host a screening of “Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers” on Friday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Sapphire Elementary. “Iraq for Sale” is the story of what happens to everyday Americans when corporations go to war. The film examines the extensive documented evidence of fraud and incompetence by private-sector military contracting companies and their connections to the Bush Administration. Since the movie’s release, there has been a renewed call for investigations into waste, fraud and abuse that have cost American taxpayers billions of dollars. The film is directed by Robert Greenwald, whose previous work includes “Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price;” “Outfoxed;” and “Uncovered.” The film is 75 minutes long. Donations may be offered at the door. For more information, go to the Monroe Democrats’ Web site at www.monroenydems.com.
