Monroe — Films For Thought, an evening of entertainment and discussion, will be sponsored by the Monroe Democratic Committee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24, at Sapphire Elementary School on Harriman Heights Road in Monroe. The film to be screened is “The Future Of Food,” which examines the facts behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade. It gives a voice to the farmers whose lives and livelihoods have been negatively impacted by this new technology. The health implications, government policies, and push towards globalization, are all part of the reason why many people are alarmed by the introduction of genetically altered crops into our food supply. Refreshments will be available. A donation is suggested. For more information, visit www.monroenydems.com.
