SUGAR LOAF — The Orange County Arts Council will hold its annual All County Dance Celebration on Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m., at the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center to coincide with National Dance Week.

Orange County dancers, choreographers, dance companies and dance studios have been invited to participate in this one-day performance. The event is sponsored by TD Bank and Stewarts Shops.

The All County Dance Celebration gives dancers who live in Orange County an opportunity to perform in a county-wide show that will increase their visibility to the general public and provide an opportunity for self-expression. All pieces presented will be choreographed and performed by artists living or working in Orange County.

In its press release announcing the program, The Orange County Arts Council indicated that it “hopes that by bringing dancers from all areas of the county together for one, single performance, collectively they will demonstrate the beauty and artistic merits of dance and encourage the community to see local dance as a true art form and become more involved in the arts.”

That same press release included this comment from M’Lanie Hunter of M’Lanie Hunter Dance in Chester: “To celebrate dance is to celebrate life! I am looking forward to sharing the joy of creativity with fellow artists and to share our individual visions with community members. My hope is that our collaborative efforts will inspire more people to love dance.”

Dara Jenel of Volute Movement Dance in Campbell Hall added: “I dance because everything in my being moves to a rhythm I cannot tune out. I love all movement and I would like nothing more than to share my love of dance with Orange County.”

And Joanne Thompson Ray of Joanne’s/Warwick Dance Studio in Blooming Grove and Warwick concurred: “Orange County holds such talented and diverse dancers and this is a great event to showcase them.”
