Dancing Irish horse to bring joy to kids

Shamus Magee, The Harness Racing Musuem and Hall of Fame’s “dancing Irish Standardbred racehorse” will appear at the museum on Saturday, March 16 as part of the museum’s Irish festivities. Children will hear his story as they paint a flowerpot and plant Bells of Ireland seeds. They can also try Irish step dancing. The museum’s 3-D Harness Racing Simulator is included in the workshop. The program’s cost is $5 and is appropriate for children age three to 11, and includes one child with an accompanying adult. All museum visitors, including those attending the children’s workshop, are invited to enjoy hot tea and Irish soda bread before staking out a spot in front of the museum on Main St. to watch The mid-Hudson St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 2 p.m. Reservations are required.
