Countryside tour will feature six gardens
Warwick The Village of Warwick, winners of the 2003 “America in Bloom Contest,” will be the site of the 13th Annual Countryside Garden Tour and Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, (rain date Sunday, June 11). The tour will begin at the Railroad Green, in the center of Warwick, where the club will be holding a plant sale. Participants will receive badges and guide maps to embark on a journey to six gardens in the area. Each garden will feature a theme. The event is sponsored, hosted and coordinated by the Warwick Valley Gardeners. “This year, we are trying something different,” said Darlene Brozowski, president of the Warwick Valley Gardeners. “The tour will be held in early June, as opposed to July, to take advantage of late spring and early summer plants. Each garden has unique features, including ponds, fountains, pools, shady groves and amazing flora and fauna.” The Warwick Valley Gardeners, established in 1992, is a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of New York, as well as the National Council of State Garden Clubs. The club created and maintains numerous public gardens in the Village and Town of Warwick, and participates in community service. As a not-for-profit, proceeds from the tour will pay for community garden and environmental projects. Tickets are $12, available on the day of the tour. After the tour, guests can peruse the wineries, dine in the restaurants, or ramble through the shops that are a hallmark of the historic village. For more information, call 986-0598.
