Middletown —The Cornell Cooperative Extension, along with Provident Bank, will be offering a free educational series starting Oct. 25 called, “Buying A House,” which features the First Home Club. This four-session program is a must for anyone thinking about buying a home. The First Home Club is administered by the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York and encourages all qualified and enrolled households to save towards the purchase of their first home. For each $1 systematically saved, the bank will match with $3, up to a maximum of $5,000 per enrolled household. These funds can be combined with other personal assets to assist the buyer with down payment and closing costs for the purchase of a home. The Middletown series will run at the Community Campus of the Cornell Cooperative Extension at 1 Ashley Avenue in Middletown, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday, Oct. 25 and continuing Wednesday, Nov. 1, Wednesday, Nov. 8, and Thursday, Nov. 16. Please register early to reserve your spot, as space is limited to the first 36 people. Refreshments and materials will be provided. For questions contact Stefanie Hubert or to register contact Christina at 344-1234. This just one of the many ways Cornell Cooperative Extension helps you put knowledge to work.
