Middletown — Every cook has faced the challenge of how to be a guest at their own dinner party. Chef Donna Douglass of “What’s Cooking with Donna Douglass” will offer tips, recipes, and hands-on instruction during a cooking demonstration from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21, at Michael’s Appliances in Middletown. In an informal atmosphere, and surrounded by some of the latest kitchen equipment from top manufacturers like Viking, Miele, Wolf and Dacor, Douglass will offer suggestions for easy and elegant entertaining - from party planning, menu planning, fundamental cooking and knife skills, recipes and dinner. The menu will consist of baked brie with apricot preserves and toasted slivered almonds, an entrée of standing rib roast with port wine mushroom sauce, and for dessert, mascarpone, chocolate and strawberry parfait. Douglass has honed her culinary skills at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, and at The New School and The Natural Gourmet Cooking School in New York City. After ten years in the restaurant industry, she launched her own company to share her innovative culinary creations as a personal chef. Whether it’s cooking for newborns, busy families, convalescing patients, or those on special diets, she can prepare healthful, great-tasting meals with top quality ingredients.
