Conservatory to host Springfest March 6-9

    Augusta, N.J. —The conservatory at the Sussex County Fairgrounds is undergoing a colorful transformation. Flowers are being forced from their winter dormancy and carefully timed to be in full bloom for the 12th anniversary of the Springfest Flower and Garden Show, which will run from Thursday, March 6, through Sunday, March 9. “The Garden Lovers Flower Show” will feature horticultural displays, created by area landscape companies: stone walls, patio stones, arbors, gazebos, waterfalls and ponds filled with koi. Gardeners such as Ken Druse, Ray Rogers and Ralph Snodsmith will make an appearance at the show. Snodsmith will present his lecture on Thursday, March 6, at 3 p.m. Visitors can see The Window Box Competition, shop at the Market Place, and dine in the Café with food catered by Krave Café of Newton. There will also be a garden treasure hunt for the kids -- with prizes. Friday night visitors will can watch the moonlight shining through the conservatory as the show stays open until 8 p.m. Special lighting techniques will inspire ways to extend the hours in our own gardens. New Jersey’s Secretary of Agricultural, Charles M. Kuperus will be the keynote speaker on the evening of The Twelfth Annual Springfest Scholarship Gala, starting at 7 p.m., on March 8.
