Monroe — Several dozen people came to Star Liquors in Monroe, as Congregation Eitz Chaim held its annual wine-tasting event. Participants enjoyed refreshments and took part in a raffle, as they sampled several varieties of Kosher-for-Passover wine. Passover is the eight-day Jewish festival of freedom, which begins this year at sundown on Saturday, April 19. Traditionally, four cups of wine are drunk at the seder, the festive Passover meal that recounts the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt and slavery over 3,000 years ago. From now until Passover, purchase any Kosher wine at Star Liquors and mention “Eitz Chaim,” and 20 percent of the purchase price will be donated to the synagogue.
