College to hold prayer breakfast

    NEWBURGH — Mount Saint Mary College will hold its 10th annual prayer breakfast on Thursday, Nov. 10, in Hudson Hall Auditorium. The Mount’s prayer breakfast is modeled after the Congressional Prayer Breakfast and brings together community leaders to reflect on social issues. The theme of this year’s breakfast is “Working for World Peace and Understanding.” The guest speaker will be Clara Lou Gould, mayor of Beacon. Sr. Ann Sakac, Mount Saint Mary College president, will welcome the participants. The singing of the National Anthem will follow, by Denise D. Van Buren, a 1997 MSMC graduate and vice president for corporate communications and community relations for the CH Energy Group. Colleen Kane, Class of ‘06, president of the Student Government Association, will give the invocation. A. Alan Seidman, chair of the Orange County Legislature, will give the reading from the Hebrew Bible, and Nicholas J. Valentine, mayor of Newburgh, will read from the New Testament. Edward M. Cooke, chair of the MSMC board of trustees, will offer a reflection. Sr. Margaret Murphy, professor of religious studies, will give the benediction.
