to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital Florida — Sports Fitness & Fun will host its first annual Workout Against Cancer to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. The event will be held during club hours from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, April 24, at 470 Route 17A in Florida. Participants can sign up for special classes, collect sponsors, or make donations. The class schedule will be posted at the club, or visit www.SportsFitnessFun.com. The funds raised will help St. Jude in its ongoing fight against childhood diseases. The hospital is one of the world’s premier centers for research and treatment of catastrophic diseases in children, primarily pediatric cancers. Its mission is to find cures through research and treatment. The research hospital, founded by entertainer Danny Thomas and opened in 1962, is supported primarily by funds from volunteer contributions raised by its national fund-raising arm, ALSAC. At its 41,000 square foot facility, the full service health club offers group classes for all ages through seniors, exercise equipment, personal training, the largest gymnastics training facility in the area, competitive cheerleading programs, martial arts instruction, on-site physical therapy, a pro shop, indoor playground, and birthday parties and refreshments at the club’s café.
