Central Valley — One way to spend a Sunday afternoon enjoying the holiday spirit is to visit Woodbury’s version of a “Gingerbread Cottage,” which will come to life as “Christmas at the Gatehouse,” from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18. The building is actually made of “puddin’ stone,” and is designated a historic site and learning center for the community. It will be decorated in all its holiday finery with many exhibits on display. Hosted by the Woodbury Historical Society’s Gatehouse committee, visitors will also be treated to holiday goodies and hot apple cider. With cold weather sweeping in and winter taking hold of our area, one of the most appropriate displays will be a new one, the “Ice Industry in the Hudson Valley.” Featured will be a beautiful print donated by society benefactor Bill Cavanaugh. For last minute holiday shoppers, there will be a sale of ornaments and other items, plus commemorative bricks designed to honor that special person with a lasting gift that won’t wear out. The Gatehouse is located on Smith Clove Road at Pine Hill Road in Central Valley. Admission is free. For more information, please call 928-6378 or 928-9249.
