Children invited to make their own shofars for Rosh Hashanah

Goshen — Chabad Hebrew School will host the Shofar Factory, a program that gives children the chance to make their own shofar — a horn used for Jewish religious purposes — from start to finish. The workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 12-16 North Church St. in Goshen. The cost is $5 per child. Shofar-blowing is incorporated in synagogue services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The workshop, run by Rabbi Borenstein, will supply genuine rams' horns, the traditional material for shofar. Children can still register for Hebrew School (Sundays in Goshen) or try it out for a week. For more information about Chabad and its programs, call 291-0514 or visit ChabadOrangeCounty.com.
