Chester/Warwick music instructor performs Saturday at Empty Bottle Saloon in Middletown

Middletown Mark Sly, a Chester and Warwick area guitar and bass instructor, will perform live at the Empty Bottle Saloon, 30 West Main St., in Middletown with his band Highroad’ on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 10 p.m. Highroad is a high energy party band that will be performing songs from various artists including, Billy Idol, Stevie Wonder and Justin Timberlake. Admission is free. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Sly has been sought after by artists, including Gavan Degraw. In , he joined 107 Productions artist “Highroad” as a bassist and vocalist. Sly is also a survivor of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, being on the 48th floor of World Trade Center Tower One. An employee of Fuji Bank, he escaped the North Tower minutes before it collapsed. In October 2001, Sly began offering guitar and bass lessons, which eventually evolved into becoming his full-time business, and led him to release his first guitar instructional DVD in 2007 called Mark Sly’s Secrets Guitar Teachers Don’t Want You To Know,’ available on www.amazon.com and www.target.com.
