Chester. Monarch butterfly film screening set for April 21

The Town of Chester and the Chester Conservation Advisory Council will present a special screening of “Beauty on the Wing” on Monday, April 21, at 3 p.m in the Chester Senior Center.
“Beauty on the Wing” is a 56-minute documentary for all ages that chronicles the remarkable migration of the Monarch butterfly from the mountain forests of Michoacán, Mexico, to the shores of Gloucester, Mass.
Filmmaker Kim Smith directed this exploration of the epic journey of the monarch, its relationship with the natural world and the growing threats it faces due to human activity.
”No other butterfly in the world journeys thousands of miles over such a vast area,” said Smith. “Monarchs are a symbol of unity, ecologically linking Canada and Mexico and nearly every region within the United States.”
For both seasoned naturalists and newcomers, this event will deepen appreciation for pollinators and the local wildflowers and habitats they depend on.
Stay after the film for giveaways and special gifts. The event is hosted by Eureka Books and More and presented in partnership with Monarch City USA.
