Chabad will hold High Holy days services at the American Legion Hall in Monroe
Monroe - In anticipation of the upcoming Jewish New Year (Sept. 23-24), Chabad of Orange County has announced, in the words of executive director Rabbi Pesach Burston, its “warm, friendly and traditional” High Holy Day services schedule. Burston said membership is not required to join. “Every Jew is a member. All are welcome, free of charge, regardless of background or affiliation,” he said. “The services will be user-friendly; accompanied with instructions and insights. All prayers will combine the original Hebrew, as well as translated English. All Rosh Hashanah services will be followed by a delicious Kiddush buffet.” Special children’s programs also will be held. “This will be a fun way to introduce the wonderful world of the Synagogue while giving you a chance to enjoy the services,” said Chana Burston, the rabbi’s wife, and co-director of Chabad. The children’s programs will include games, singing and storytelling. “According to Tradition, at the New Year the Doors of Heaven are open; G-d accepts all prayers, from anyone,” the rabbi added. “The least we can do is open our doors as well, to the entire community.” Services will be held on Rosh Hashana - the Jewish New Year (Oct. 23 and 24), as well as Yom Kippur - the Day of Atonement (Oct. 2). They will be held at various times at the American Legion Banquet Hall in Monroe.
