Warwick — Following the renovation of Railroad Green Park in 2003, the Warwick Valley Gardeners undertook the responsibility of planting and decorating the park. The initial holiday design required more than 10,000 lights for decorating trees and natural seasonal displays. The club used funds raised from its annual plant sale and garden tour to purchase the lights. This year it was discovered that more than half of the original lights were not working. Not having the funds to replace all the lights, the club sought help from Orange and Rockland Community Relations. After learning that Warwick’s lights might go unlit, O&R made a very generous donation to the club. Residents can view the “Lighting of the Green” at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, when Railroad Green Park will be illuminated once again with more than 10,000 lights. To celebrate the 2005-2006 holiday season, the design theme chosen was “A Partridge in a Pear Tree.”
